Wherever you roam, follow these tips to stay safe on the road

Wherever you roam, any time of year, follow these tips to stay safe on the road!

With the school year coming to an end, more kids will be out running around neighborhoods. While you should always follow the speed limit and drive safely, it’s more important than ever now that kids are more likely to be on the roads during the summer. When driving through neighborhoods please make sure you slow down and watch for children.

Whether you’re in a neighborhood or driving around town, distracted driving is a leading cause for accidents. Be sure to keep your eyes on the road and don’t get distracted by your phone, stereo, or other things. Also, always wear your seat belt and make sure your children are buckled in too or are seated in their car seats.

Are you planning a road trip for your summer vacation? Schedule a vehicle inspection before hitting the road. Check for mechanical issues, get an oil change if needed, check for low tire pressures, check the tread on your tires, and test the brakes. You may not notice any issues when you’re just driving around town, but they can become a major problem when you’re on the open road.

Finally, plan for an emergency. Let someone know the route you are taking so they can check in and make sure everything is okay. Also, have a first aid kit available in your car for any minor incidents that may occur while traveling.

Follow these tips to stay safe on the road this summer and all year long!
